Uganda Lodge Community Projects is a UK registered charity (1150023) that promotes better educational, health, social and life outcomes for the children and wider community of Ruhanga & other areas in south-west Uganda.

Our work to date includes the building of a school for the village children, a gravity well to provide a reliable water source for the community, a health clinic to promote better health outcomes and we are currently developing a vocational training centre amongst other initiatives.
The project is supported by English speaking volunteers from across the world who stay at our own lodge from where they help at the school and get involved in our many village based projects.
Our main focus for the current year is the building of two new classooms which will cost £15,000. These new classrooms are required as the school has grown from just 30 children in 2008 to over 400 today. Without these new facilities we will be unable register more children.
Your donation will make a real and meaningful difference. You can find out more about the project and volunteering opportunities by visiting our website (details below).

Over the past 10 years we have built a Nursery & Primary school where over 500 village children attend regularly, 200 of which are boarding. We get no help from the government so school fees are subsidised to an affordable level through our £5 a month Support Scheme.

Recently we started Vocational Training Classes as many Primary School leavers will not afford senior school. Even if they do reach S4 & pass some GCSE's there are very few paid job opportunities, so a trade or skill will enable them to earn a living by self- employment. Our aim is to add a much wider choice of subjects for young students as soon as donations allows us to do more building.

We funded a Gravity-fed Well to provide a reliable Clean Water Source for the community, and also built a Village Health Clinic to promote better health outcomes. With the help of donations, our medical staff provide low cost or free health care for the local community, screen all schoolchildren and organise outreach work in the surrounding villages.

The Ugandan Teachers and Medical Staff are supported by English speaking Volunteers from across the world who stay at Uganda Lodge and from their base in the heart of village they help at the school, medical centre and get involved in the many village based projects.

Your Donations make a real and meaningful difference to the lives of children of Ruhanga and the wider community of SW Uganda. You can find out more about the project and volunteering opportunities by visiting our website www.ugandalodge.com.
