Charlies Beach Hut
Who we are
In March 2012 Charlie Codling was suddenly diagnosed with a Difuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), an incurable brain tumour. Devastatingly after only 5 months, Charlie passed away on 6 September 2012, just 2 weeks before his 5th birthday.
Inspired by Charlie’s love for life, strength, humour and caring nature, Charlie’s Mum and Dad, Karen and Steve were able to ‘Find the Wonderful in Today’ which they have adopted as their family motto and started the charity: Charlie’s Beach Hut.
Charlie’s, is a beach hut style caravan at Perran Sands in Perranporth which aims to provide families of children with life limiting illnesses and families of Fire-Fighters that have suffered bereavement, or life changing injury whilst in the line of duty, a relaxing environment so they can forge some forever memories, in a hope that they can ‘Find the Wonderful in Today’.
The UK Charity Commission legal statement is:
Charlie's Beach Hut Charity has been set up to relieve the needs of families and carers who have children with life threatening or terminal illnesses or have lost children to cancer; or to families of fire-fighters that have suffered life limiting injuries or bereavement whilst in the line of duty by the provision of a "Beach Hut" holiday home in Perranporth, Cornwall. We hope that families will be able to 'find the wonderful in today' and build some treasured memories at Charlies Beach Hut.
