Borderline is the only organisation that specifically helps homeless Scots in London. We exist to improve the lives of vulnerable Scots on the streets, or those at risk of ending up on the streets of London.
Our charitable objects are to relieve persons resident or found within a radius of 35 miles of Charing Cross who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress. To be eligible for relief applicants must be a person born in Scotland, the child of a person born in Scotland or the widow, widower or surviving member of a civil partnership of a person born in Scotland. Our services include:

-Access to beds at a partner hostel in London
-Resettlement options in London and Scotland
-Housing and welfare benefits advice and advocacy
-Assessment and referrals to drug and alcohol agencies
-Provision of birth certificates for proof of identity
-Grants for essential items to help furnish new accommodation and clothing
The demand for Borderline’s services is increasing. In 2012, our research found that 7% of the UK rough sleeper population in London was Scottish. The following year this figure had increased to 12%.

  • Assessment and referrals to drug and alcohol agencies
  • Provision of birth certificates for proof of identity
  • Grants for essential items to help furnish new accommodation and clothing

The demand for Borderline’s services is ever increasing, with Scottish rough sleepers being well documented as some of the most entrenched in London and with consistently higher support needs than other groups across the city.
