Friends of Five Acre Wood and Grow 19
Who we are
Five Acre Wood School is a special school for more than 600 children and young people aged from 3-19 with profound, severe and complex learning difficulties, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
As a special school, they have amazingly inspirational students and a passionate and dedicated staff team who are committed to supporting the students to achieve their own individual potentials.
Grow19 is a specialist provision for young adults aged 19+ who have learning difficulties. At Grow19 they learn functional skills, vocational skills, further life skills and embark on work experience sessions.
Our charity - the Friends of Five Acre Wood and Grow19 provides resources and opportunities for our children and young adullts over and above that which is statutorily provided. We raise money for specific projects that enhance the provision for the students and yound adults and offer them the best possible opportunities that they so deserve.
As our charity does not employ staff or maintain any significant overheads, all funds received through Virgin Money Giving are used solely for the benefit of our children and young adults. We are grateful to everyone who chooses to support us in this way - every donation makes a difference!
Amongst our current projects that your donation will support:
Buy a brick!
We wish to buy a house in Snodland to be a real-life learning resource for our older students. You can link to the campaign page and see how you can donate to our campaign by clicking here.
We are looking to create a modern, bright, airy, accessible library for our students at FAW Snodland.
New SEN area
We are in desperate need of a new classroom at FAW Palace Wood - we are looking to fund a mobile classroom alongside the Friends of Palace Wood
Many of the students experience barriers to the ways in which they communicate with those around them. We are continually seeking new and innovative ways in which we can support and enhance the student’s ability to communicate. This is often through the provision of sophisticated (and expensive!) technology and so we raise funds in order to provide for those who need it.
The school gardens at FAW Loose are an organic project. They will never be finished! As surely as nature changes everyday, so the gardens move and flow and grow. We are always seeking funding or donations for these essential therapy areas which are a vital part of our students' well-being.
We need to provide some more learning spaces for the young adults at Grow19 as they expand the numbers they can accommodate.
