Future Skills Training
Who we are
FST is a Wandsworth based charity that invests time in children and young people, enabling them to re-engage with the learning process. We target children and young people aged between 8 and 18, who are excluded or at risk of exclusion from mainstream education, those who have offended or are at risk of offending, young people not in education, employment or training, and those socially marginalised.
We seek to empower, support, care for and give hope to all the young people we encounter.
What do we do?
We provide both alternative education and youth services through a range of effective and targeted projects including: One-to-one Mentoring, a Youth Cafe, residentials and Personal and Social development workshops.
We work with small groups of young people and on a one-to-one basis to provide education, support and space that develops young people's skills, abilities and personalities enabling them to grow into mature, responsible adults. We also aim to build lasting relationships that will provide encouragement and a solid platform from which young people feel able to make positive choices about their lives, overcoming many of the challenges they face.
Our Learn2Live project involves delivering twice weekly social development workshops to secondary aged pupils who have been excluded from school. In the academic year 2018-2019 78% of leavers returned to full time education.
In 2018/19 80% of those who completed mentoring achieved a positive outcome.
In 2018/19 Infuse welcomed 77 young people in total which is less compared to last year but it did allow us to build deeper relationships with them and provide ongoing support.
To become even more effective and impact more young lives we must have high quality youth workers spending the right amount of time with our young people. We are increasingly asked to help, but do not have the capacity. Please help us to support more young people. Your donations mean so much to all of us here at Future Skills Training.
