A voluntary youth organisation aiming to help young people towards responsible adulthood and encourage valuable personal attributes and high standards of conduct, using a nautical theme based on the traditions and customs of the Royal Navy. The Unit has a great home on HMS Belfast where cadets are taught by a volunteer team of dedicated staff. The Unit usually meets twice a week. The majority of our cadets are drawn from the city fringe boroughs of Islington, Camden, Westminster, Tower Hamlets and Southwark.

Our Unit provides training in a great variety of skills, both afloat and ashore. Just as important as the hard skills are the soft life skills that the Unit's adult volunteers seek to impart to our young people as they navigate those difficult teenage years. We actively enable and encourage the cadets to progress through the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

We are an independent charity and we receive no money from our umbrella organisation- The Marine Society and Sea Cadets.
