TEFT funds Kisima School in Nyahururu, Kenya, which provides free, residential education for 160 children, 80 girls and 80 boys, mainly from the pastoralist communities in northern Kenya. The project is Kenyan-inspired and Kenyan-led and through education aims to give these children the hope of steering themselves out of dependence and marginalisation and bringing new life to their families and communities. Northern Kenya where high percentages of pastoralists rely on relief aid to survive and many are illiterate due to lack of education - children often have to work as herders:

Many students come from the nomadic communities in northern Kenya. Kisima School selects students from disadvantaged backgrounds on the basis of proven academic potential at primary school:

Studying at Kisma School - where access to running water and three meals a day is a great luxury for most students:

Music and drama club - students from different tribes and faiths study and enjoy school life happily together at Kisima School, free from the conflict and civil war that blights many of their communities in the struggle for scarce resources:

In 2016 100% of Kisima School students achieved university entrance grades - a number have been awarded full scholarships and currently there are Kisima graduates studying for degrees in China, Costa Rica, Poland and the USA as well as in Kenya:
