Burley In Wharfedale Scout and Guide Group

Who we are

Burley-in-Wharfedale Scout and Guide Group is a thriving unit with about 300 members meeting every week in the different sections. The Group caters for young people between 5 and 25 and provides  a range of activities and opportunities to actively support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.

At present we have 3 Rainbow units, 2 Brownie units, 2 Guide units, a Ranger unit, a Beaver colony, 2 Cub packs, a Scout troop, and an Explorer unit.

Modern Scouting and Guiding offers a very wide range of training and other developmental experiences to the young people in the units. Such activities range from personal and domestic skills, such as preparing meals for self and family, managing personal finances, using the internet and social media effectively and safely, to expedition planning and preparation, increasing involvement in local and national community events to awareness of similarities and differences between cultures, religions and nationalities – with opportunities to interact with other young people from different backgrounds.

We play a large part in community events, including the Village Fete, the Duck Race, the, the huge Bonfire & Fireworks event the Group runs each year, the Remembrance Service and, more recently, the Santa Sleigh at Christmas

Burley-in-Wharfedale Scout and Guide Group believe we are well placed to make a positive difference to lives of young people in the village, and greatly appreciate your financial contributions to help us address these needs in the future
