A force for good in the community.

Based at the heart of Islington, Mary's works with children, young people, and community groups to inspire and enable local people to improve their lives and pursue their goals.

Mary's Youth Club provides a comprehensive and inclusive youth service for young people aged 10-19. Running activities in St Mary's Neighbourhood Centre as well as through satelite projects in four Islington schools we reach over 500 young people each year.

We work with young people facing inequalities caused by poverty and deprivation. 40% of  Islington’s young people live in poverty, amongst the highest in the country. We support young people with disabilities, marginalised girls and young women, those living in kinship families and young people who are struggling academically. We have set up specific partnerships with a view to easing engagement with these young people affected by compounding challenges. Many of whom lack key soft skills, access to opportunities, support through social networks and suffer an often-debilitating absence of confidence and resilience.

With the ending in March 2019 of several of our current youth work funding streams we need more funds to be able to continue our work  Please give generously or help fundraise for us so young people can continue receiving our support.

Mary's Childcare Services

Our Pre-school provides early years education for 2-4-year-old children predominantly from disadvantaged family backgrounds many with additional needs. It serves over 40 families each year and draws support from a wide network of organisations and professionals to enhance the development of the children and achieve the best start possible for them.

Our holiday Play Scheme provides much needed affordable holiday childcare for primary school aged children in the long school holidays giving the children a high-quality action-packed time and enabling parents to stay employed and reduce the risk of families falling into ever greater economic hardship.

Mary's Meeting Rooms

In the community spaces of St Mary's we facilitate the regular meeting of over 50 local organisations, including physical activity, mental health, and disability support, help with addiction, free legal advice as well as recreational use by local residence; We also support smaller grassroots projects by giving them free meeting space to do their work such as a number of volunteer-run projects supporting the elderly and isolated with social, craft activities and lunch clubs. In total, we have over 1300 visits a week on average.
