Streetwise is a regional charity which offers an informal, safe, confidential, non-judgemental space for young people aged 11 – 25 years. Young people can access a range of free information, advice, support, counselling, community activities and sexual health services under one roof. Issues include; peer pressure, self-harm, self-worth, drug and alcohol use, benefits advice, housing issues, family concerns, bereavement, sexual exploitation, relationship issues.

Streetwise has been in operation since 1991 (2016 was our 25th Anniversary Year) and is based in Newcastle City Centre. All Streetwise services are welcoming, respectful, young people friendly and accessible. We strive to safeguard the welfare of children and young people to the highest standard and empower young people to be involved in the planning, delivery and evaluation of all our services. The Project deals with distressing issues on a daily basis and has built up a strong reputation for delivering excellent specialist support services to young people. The project works in partnership with Parents, GP’s, Health workers, Teachers, the Police and other Voluntary & Community projects.  No young person is turned away and each year the project supports over 16,000 contacts made by over 8,000 young people.
