Just For Kids Law
Who we are
Who are we?
Just for Kids Law is a UK charity that works with and for children and young people to hold those with power to account and fight for wider reform by providing legal representation and advice, direct advocacy and support, and campaigning to ensure children and young people in the UK have their legal rights and entitlements respected and promoted and their voices heard and valued.
Why do we exist?
We exist to help children and young people overcome all the difficult they face, from problems at school and issues with immigration status to trouble with the police.
With rising deprivation and public services under pressure, our work is more important than ever.
What do we do?
We support over 1000 children and young people every year with youth advocacy, legal representation and youth opportunities services. The nature of our individual casework is holistic, both in the way that it seeks to provide support covering multiple areas of need that a young person has, and in the way that they are supported by a team of advocates, lawyers and youth opportunities workers who are co-located to provide a joined-up package of help.
It is not just the children and young people we work with directly who benefit from the impact of our work: we fight for wider change that affects all children and young people, taking the evidence from our direct casework as a starting point. We do this through strategic litigation, policy work, campaigning and equipping others to work for children’s rights. Our work in this area includes the Children’s Rights Alliance for England and our Youth Justice Legal Centre project.
Why should you donate?
Every week we have to turn away young people who need support because we don't have the resources to help them. Your donation will make a difference, ensuring we are able to support more of the young people who need our help, and can make a greater impact on policymakers and law to benefit children and young people across the UK.
