Our Vision is to connect young people and their community to more promising futures.

Our Mission is to improve access for disadvantaged 14-25 year olds to sustained employment, education and training through practical environmental land based learning.

In 2016 Green Corridor intensively supported over 30 young people at our Learning and Development Centre, over 90% have special educational needs and disability (SEND). We helped over half of our young people progress into further education or training and just over 25% into local employment, more than 3 times more than the national employment rate for people with SEND (7% according to the Department for Education)

In our poly-tunnels and plots young people can dig, plant and grow, while our qualified tutors support them to achieve accreditations in horticulture and/or conservation. In our Learning and Development Centre young people are supported with regular 1:1’s, Employability qualifications/workshops and additional Maths and English qualifications, through our partners at the Nisai Group. Our small group sizes, of mixed abilities, promotes a conclusive environment of respect and trust, often encouraging social skills to blossom.

In 2017 we are changing the landscape of our site and qualifications we offer. We are delighted to be entering into a joint venture with Fugimental. This social enterprise will involve learning to cultivate oyster mushrooms on the large volume of waste coffee grounds generated at the airport. We aim to sell these gourmet mushrooms back to the airlines, local hotels and restaurant. This will create supported employment opportunities and creating a unique revenue sharing model to support our wider charitable objectives.

To transform the landscape of our site we will be creating a new area of raised beds for fruit trees and bushes, transforming a neighboring a 2.5 acres of scrubland site into a productive urban growing space and hopefully introducing a training kitchen. Are exciting plans for a proposed teaching kitchen will be for local young people and the community combined, to also learn to Pick Cook and Serve the produce they have grown. These added skills will mean that our young people will have a greater chance of employability, especially given the gap in recruitment in the local hospitality and catering sector in and around the airport.
