PLUS Forth Valley Ltd

Who we are

PLUS is a registered charity that supports children and young people with disabilities and additional support needs, to have access to social, leisure and recreational opportunities and activities, across Forth Valley.

PLUS was established in 1988 by parents anf families with children who had a disability or additional support needs due to the lack of support available in the Forth Valley. Today families are still very much at the heart of our services, with a number of our Board Members being related to a current or previous young person who attends PLUS.

Sadly, children with disabilities and additional support needs are in many ways disadvantaged compared to their non-disabled peers. We believe that every child and young person has a right to play and have access to social and leisure opportunities.

PLUS currently supports over 295 individuals between the ages of 0-35 with a range of disabilities such as; Downs Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Global Learning Delay. Many have complex needs.

PLUS currently engages with over 250 families in the community. In 2018/19 PLUS organised and ran 1971 activities and events resulting in 18,520 hours of short breaks for families and carers. These short breaks strengthens their family unit by increasing the capacity and resilience of families to continue in their caring roles.

If you wish to support us in any way we would be very grateful.

Your support is hugely important to the services we offer and will go towards helping children and young people with disabiltiies engage with their peers and have fun!
