Who we are
SomeOne Cares is a not for profit organisation who offer FREE one to one counselling to anyone aged 11+ who have been affected by abuse and its related issues, working with survivors as well as their supporters!
SomeOne Cares does not knowingly work with perpetrators of abuse.
SomeOne Cares was set-up in 1989 by two women who wanted to provide more help for those affected by sexual abuse. The name comes directly from clients in those early days as they would often say, “It’s good to know someone cares.”
We provide individual counselling to those affected by abuse. We feel this is the most effective way of helping people come to terms with their issues, as each person is affected in their own individual way.
Over 36 counsellors dedicate time to SomeOne Cares.
In 2015 we set up a new project named Safer Futures @ SomeOne Cares. We begin working in 3 high schools in North Tyneside providing counselling support to school pupils. Rewind to 2020 and we are now delivering over 100 counselling hours per week to 11 schools within the local area.
We have helped hundreds of clients to lead a more effective life, and continue this week in week out.
Throughout the years we have tried to provide a service that recognises that abuse is a difficult area of care, one which cannot be hurried as the issues involved are so complex and usually very difficult for the client to work with. Often we are working with clients who have been neglected by the care system or with people who have little faith in the statutory services.
