Who we are
Myra's Wells gives 100% of the donations it receives to drill deep wells in villages exclusively in Burkina Faso, West Africa, usually for a village with no water, but also from time to time at schools and orphanages. Wells provide water which greatly improves health and opportunity for horticulture and animal husbandry. Myra's Wells is a Christian charity and most wells are managed by local church pastors, but access must be available to all, irrespective of religion or tribal grouping. Wells have been placed in Moslem villages also. We have our own Burkinabe volunteers who manage what we do in Africa and negotiate with reliable local drilling companies, providing employment for local people to get the best deal, and who will drill up to three times in a locality to get water. Financially we have 100% success rate in drilling, which is unusual, We do not operate using partners to get best value for donors' money, as using partners inevitably adds to cost. We have no employees - only volunteers in UK and Africa who cover all admin costs.
