Southern Area Hospice Services
Who we are
Southern Area Hospice Services (SAHS) provides invaluable support and care to people living within the Southern Health Board Area, who are suffering from Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease and AIDS.
Our aim is to provide the best quality of life for our patients and their families. All our services are provided free of charge and we rely heavily on voluntary donations to continue providing our special care. Our website has a wealth of information about our services, how to donate and more ways to support us.
Together we can help others. Southern Area Hospice Services was founded in 1989 as a 6-bedded unit and has since expanded to become a 12-bed in-patient unit, which serves the entire Southern Health Board Region. The unit operates 24 hours a day throughout the year and is the heart of the hospice. Southern Area Hospice provides the service across the Southern Health Board, including Newry & Mourne, Craigavon, Banbridge, Portadown, Armagh and Dungannon.
Whilst Hospice does receive some annual financial support from the Department of Health, we rely heavily on fundraising. This year we need to fundraise £3.1M which is approximately £260,000 each month. We need to raise these funds to enable us to continue to provide care and support to our patients and their families.
