Who we are
Norwich Samaritans is a charity and we have been supporting Norwich and the wider community through our listening service for over 50 years.
Our 160 volunteers provide emotional support to those who are struggling to cope by offering a free, safe space for callers to talk to us - any time they like, in their own way, about whatever us getting to them.
In 2018 our listening volunteers responded to over 37,500 contacts via phone, email, text & face to face.
We also run a Listener scheme in two prisons, train Nightline and nursing students, and reach 1500-2000 pupils a year through our school outreach.
We don't receive any funding from our Samaritans Central Office, meaning we are responsible for generating all our own funds.
We are completely reliant on donations and funds raised through our shops to keep Norwich Samaritans open.
£8.75 will keep our branch open for 1 hour - an hour that could make all the difference.
Whatever you do to support us - volunteering, fundraising, donating, or visiting our shops - it is your support that enables us to be there for callers in their hour of need.
