Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust
Who we are
Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance Trust (KSSAAT) is an independent charitable healthcare provider working with the Ambulance Service operating a 24 hour a day Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) 365 days a year. Each of the two helicopters carry a minimum of one Doctor and one Paramedic who are trained in advanced pre-hospital care allowing them to assess and stabilise critically ill and injured children and adults. Specialist clinical procedures, including general anaesthesia, advanced pain relief and blood transfusions, which are usually only available in an emergency department, can be delivered to patients at the scene, increasing the patient’s chance of survival and recovery. The life-saving service that KSSAAT provides costs around £11 million a year and as it is not part of the NHS, it relies almost entirely on voluntary donations.
