Re-homing Animal Telephone Service
Who we are
R.A.T.S. stands for Re-homing Animal Telephone Service and reflects the origins of our charity.
We began in 1984 with a small group of dedicated animal lovers who, via the telephone, put those who needed an animal re-homed in touch with those who wished to adopt.
The charity continues today to be run entirely by volunteers and we are proud to say that R.A.T.S. has grown into one of Bedfordshire’s leading animal charities.
Our aim is to re-home the animals in our care into loving, secure homes so that they can live out the remainder of their lives happily. All homes are vetted.
We comprise of three sections: Dogs, Cats and Small Mammals and always have a variety of these animals for re-homing. Please see our website or social media for further details.
Whilst in our care, every animal will receive any necessary veterinary treatment required and it is our policy NEVER to have a healthy animal put to sleep.
Our dogs have been based at Highfields, our kennels in Hare Street Village, Nr Buntingford since its purchase in 2010.
Our cats and small mammals continue to be fostered in the homes of a small band of volunteers across Bedfordshire.
