Euan’s Guide is the disabled access review website offering an alternative to the hours spent making phone calls and searching for disabled access information online before visiting somewhere new. The charity was co-founded by powerchair user Euan MacDonald and his sister Kiki in 2013 as a way for disabled people, their families and friends to share and discover accessible places to socialise, but also to get on with everyday life. One disabled access review can be enough to remove the ‘fear of the unknown’ before going somewhere for the first time. Now, the website has thousands of reviews submitted by disabled people, their families and friends.

‘The importance of accurate access information continues to gain widespread recognition, but there is still work to be done. Something we can all do is get information out there about the places that do have the right facilities and right approach.”

Euan MacDonald

Submitting reviews on Euan’s Guide is easy, and the website is designed to be accessible throughout. The kinds of places that have been reviewed so far include train stations, parks, museums, theatres, hotels, restaurants and many more! In addition to putting disabled access information out there, Euan’s Guide offers top tips and resources for businesses and attractions to improve their disabled access. Our #RedCordCard campaign has successfully untied over ten thousand knotted emergency red cords in accessible loos!

Euan’s Guide also powers award-winning Disabled Access Day which is held annually in March. Disabled Access Day is all about ‘you and somewhere new’ and puts into practice the ethos of Euan’s Guide. Thousands of people will try new experiences and visit new places on Disabled Access Day in a celebration of good access. The kinds of events that take place on the day include BSL interpreted talks, discounts and offers, performances, screenings and tours all around the UK and beyond. Sign up and get involved!
