Staple Hill Community Hub
Who we are
A small charity serving the Staple Hill area in South Gloucestershire on the outskirts of Bristol. Staple Hill can be a great place to live with a bustling High Street, friendly people and a much loved public park (Page Park). At the same time the area ranks as one of the most deprived in South Gloucestershire with high scores on multiple indices of deprivation including income, employment, health & disability, crime, and the living environment.
The Hub’s purpose is to tackle this deprivation by providing services that are in demand and will benefit local people in need. We provide a job searchers support group, a twice weekly lunch club, access to a credit union, an older people’s friendship and exercise club, emergency food parcels, a children's christmas party and christmas hampers for those most in need. We also have space and rooms in the Hub which we let out to other organisations who are themselves tackling the issues that lead to deprivation.
Our primary beneficiaries are the more marginalised and disadvantaged individuals, families and groups from the neighbourhood. These include people with mental health issues, learning difficulties, low waged and unemployed, single parents, low income families, isolated older people, vulnerable residents from the Pendennis Estate, and adults living in care homes and independent living settings. Support is also provided to a range of local groups and organisations that fit with our objects.Secondary beneficiaries include volunteers, families, carers and friends of service users and the wider community of Staple Hill.
