At Making The Leap, we improve the lives of children and young people aged 11-25 from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds across London by improving their access to opportunities and helping them to develop the skills, behaviours and outlook to succeed in education, work and in life. We believe that there should be opportunities available for all young people and that they all should develop the skills and mind-set that will lift them out of poverty, so they can become all that their talent and hard work will allow them to be. We run unique and bespoke personal development, character, employability and career programmes aimed at young people from our centre in Kensal Green and to children in secondary schools. We also help young people to progress forwards into meaningful employment opportunities with a focus on roles offering career progression. We empower young people to believe in themselves whilst providing them with the tools to overcome their circumstances and fulfil their potential. Last year we served over 6755 children and young people across London. 89% of school children who participated in our in-school programmes said that as a result of the training, they felt more prepared for the working environment. Currently, 70% of the young people who attend our careers programmes progress forward into meaningful employment or further education within 6 months. ‘This was very helpful career wise, it helped me learn about myself and how to get a job in the future.’ Year 10 secondary school student, Fulham Cross Girls School. 'Making The Leap is sincerely changing the lives of young people. I can’t thank the team enough for pushing me to believe in myself and for being a constant source of inspiration. I will always be in awe of how much Making The Leap has impacted my life!' Sameeha, now working as an Editorial Apprentice at The Telegraph.
