Who we are
We are a registered charity working across Lancashire and our aim is to support Lesbian, Gay Bisexual and/or Trans (LGBT) people to be happier, healthier and better connected. We are inclusive and we support all people on the LGBTWQ+spectrum.
We are the only pan-Lancashire organisation specifically for LGBTQ+ people and their families and last year we reached over 1400 people with ages ranging from 19- 65+.
The work we do is community-led, responsive to, and based on, evidence of need: We have a strong, well informed understanding of the needs of LGBTQ+ people in Lancashire and the activities included in our programme of outreach and support are informed by regular community consultation.
We support LGBTQ+ people with our information and support service operating 5 days a week. We also now have a support worker giving regular 1-2-1 support for vulnerable people and those who have struggled during the Covid-19 pandemic.
We know that people who attend our activities forge long term friendship networks – for example attendees of our trans residential weekend have reported that they are still in contact with people they met there 2 years later.
We know that the work that we do makes a difference – not just to our beneficiaries, but to mainstream service provision. We regularly share what we know about the needs of local LGBTQ+ people with service providers through attending forums, consultations or as members of local strategy or oversight groups.
We also share our learning through LGBTQ+ awareness training which we are regularly asked to deliver across a range of sectors which improves understanding of the needs of LGB&T people and reduces barriers to accessing services.
