Copenhagen Street Foodbank

Who we are

Copenhagen Street Foodbank is a neighbourhood foodbank which takes place in the hall of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Islington (N1). The project opened in March 2018 to help those struggling with food poverty.

By March, 2020, before lockdown the food bank was serving an average of 60 clients on a fortnightly basis. During lockdown we joined forces with the local Mutual Aid Group who delivered food parcels to those who requested them. After reopening in June 2020 the numbers of people accessing our service rose quickly to over 100 each week, many with large families. In the summer there was a slight decline, down to the 80's. This was short-lived, however, and now (13 October) we are back up to 100!

The foodbank is run completely by volunteers and relies on donations to keep going. With numbers having increased so much due to Covid, we are very grateful for anything you can contribute to help the foodbank to keep going. We are trying to set up an alternate system for receiving donations when Virgin discontinues this service at the end of November 2021.
