Who we are
BACE (Building and Assisting Communities with Education) was formed to help children in rural communities in The Gambia access education and health services. Our first project was in 2011 when BACE Volunteers and the local community of Bonsa built the Favour Preparatory Nursery School. BACE now manages and funds the school which cares for 120 3 - 7 year old children who otherwise would be walking up to 6 miles to school. We continue to support the teaching staff, stock the school with the best materials we can and improve the learning space year on year. A feeding programme is funded for all our students so they get one healthy meal a day. In 2014 we raised the money and built a healthcare clinic in the village of Bonsa which caters for our students and also provides accessible healthcare for the 20,000 surrounding villagers. Alongside these 2 major projects, we raised the money for staff accommodation, toilets, a borehole and pump, a vegetable gardenand a playground Please visit our website to learn more about our ongoing projects and see how you can help.
