The Jamie Devaney Memorial Fund
Who we are
Jamie’s Fund works with mental health practitioners and their hospitals in Uganda to improve the care available to people with a mental illness or epilepsy.
Across Uganda in nearly 30 hospitals we facilitate the delivery of mental health training (over 700 health staff trained so far) and the development of mental health services in their communities.
We are funded entirely by donations and are very grateful for any contributions you can make.
All the money raised is spent carefully in Uganda.
Although we operate with a small budget, we are seeing an impact, with the development of outreach services, the opening of new clinics and many new patients started on treatment. Some of these people have been confined or shackled for years as they have not been able to access treatment.
Jamie's Fund was established in memory of Jamie Devaney who died in Uganda in 2011, after falling ill while on a family holiday and fund raising trip. During his four years, Jamie brought immense joy and pleasure to his family and everyone else who knew him.
