Who we are
Hope4Malawi helps relieve poverty in Malawi by improving children's learning environments and opportunities so they can have a better education and are equipped to get jobs which enable them to move beyond the poverty trap.
Hope4Malawi supports Hope Secondary School together with it's four feeder schools; Chipwepwete, Tapani, Chimwemwe and Mafunde. We also support Mpemba Primary and students from Mpemba who are selected to National and District Schools.
Partnership with these rural Malawian schools includes provision of support staff, desks, books, e-learning, solar lamps and other resources. We also fund classrooms and toilet blocks.
As a result of the improvement to primary schools, an increasing number of students are being selected to secondary school, so there is a need for more secondary school places. Currently in Malawi there are only places for 20% of students finishing year 8.
We have recently funded and will continue to support a government run secondary school - Hope CDSS - which enables 60 additional students a year to have a secondary education which otherwise they would not have.
For top students who are selected to National and District Boarding Schools we have a sponsorship programme. This allows students who would otherwise not be able to afford to attend these schools to have the opportunity of a great education.
Currently Hope4Malawi is raising funds for
- primary school desks so children don't sit on the floor
- equipping and resourcing Hope Secondary School
- classrooms at Hope, Tapani and Mafunde
- libraries at Tapani and Mafunde
- sponsorship of students for secondary and tertiary
