Dundee Industrial Heritage Ltd
Who we are
Dundee Heritage Trust and its operating company Dundee Industrial Heritage Ltd are registered charities with responsibility for the care and interpretation of Captain Scott’s internationally significant Royal Research Ship Discovery and the associated Discovery Point Antarctic Museum and for Scotland’s Jute Museum @ Verdant Works, one of the nation’s most important textile museums.
We have in our care two Recognised Collections of National Significance, relating to Discovery and polar exploration and the Dundee textile industry. We provide high quality learning services to over 8,000 school children and countless community groups every year.
It costs around £2 million each year to run the two museums. Dundee Heritage Trust receives a small subsidy from local government that equates to just over 1% of the running costs. Accordingly, we require support for a wide range of projects including the care and conservation of our collections which includes Discovery, exhibitions, learning programmes and capital developments.
Donations can be general or specific to particular projects or aspects of our work.
