The Curzon is one of the oldest continuously running cinemas in the world and we are concerned that our valuable, independent, community run cinema will not survive this unprecedented global pandemic.

The Curzon, in Clevedon, North Somerset, first opened its doors in April 1912. With its neoclassical stonework and ornate tin panelling reaching throughout the building (the earliest and most complete example known to survive in England) as well as its historical archive and collection of cinema technology, the Curzon constitutes a significant aspect of 20th Century heritage.

After an incredible fundraising campaign throughout 2019 we were able to start vital restoration work on the leaking roof in March of this year. However, this work is now under threat, and for the first time in 108 years, the cinema has been forced to close.

We desperately need your help to ensure the Curzon can continue both as a heritage venue encapsulating the story of cinema-going in Britain and as the cultural beating heart of the region.
