Bay Search and Rescue

Who we are

Who we are and what we do

We are an all Terrain Rescue Team working in partnership with Cumbria and Lancashire Fire & Rescue Services. We specialise in flood, snow and quicksand rescue, and support them with our Hagglund BV206 all terrain amphibious rescue vehicles, 4x4s and trained personnel.

We also assist the Coastguard, Police, Ambulance Service and First Responders on and around the unique Morecambe Bay, Lake District and North Lancashire area.

Bay Search and rescue team with hagglund bv206

Since it was started in 2000, the team has been involved in an average of 40 operational call outs per year, including providing assistance to H.M. Coastguard during and subsequent to, the Morecambe Bay ‘cockling tragedy’ in 2004 and working for Cumbria Fire and Rescue during the horrific floods in Cockermouth in the Lake District in 2009.

As well as search and rescue/casualty evacuations on the Bay, the team also assists the Fire and Rescue, Ambulance Service, Police and First Responders in any inland work where our team and vehicles can be of use.

Thanks for your support.
