Who we are
It was Ellie’s wish to fund a beach hut in her memory which could be enjoyed by other young people battling cancer and leukaemia. She wanted them to enjoy and make memories that will last a life time, as she did with her family, to bring a bit of sunshine at an otherwise gloomy time. Ellie was 16 years old when she lost her battle to leukaemia in March 2015; Ellie had always lived in North Devon and enjoyed spending time with her family and enjoying everything North Devon had to offer Faced with the knowledge that her life would be cut short, Ellie expressed a wish to have a ‘Landmark’ in her name. In light of this we have started ‘Everything Ellie’ which currently consists of a rented Beach Hut at Saunton Sands, for which we have secured funds for 2 years. Since July 2015 5 families have enjoyed the beach hut . One family told us: “we had the most wonderful day at the Everything Ellie Beach hut today, thank you so much. The kids loved sliding down the dunes. We felt we were a million miles from home and when I was putting the boys to bed my son said “we have had such a brilliant day today haven’t we” Our long term goal is to buy or build a chalet or woodland lodge in the local area to offer respite holidays for families’ under-going treatment in our geographical area. Build a network of local business who could offer a small support to create a complete experience for other families faced with a child with life threatening illness can go and spend some quality family time and make some priceless memories.
In June 2019 we opened our holiday home in North Devon to compliament our Beach Hut and create longer respite time for families having their worst and possibly the last time together.
