Who we are
Christians often feel embarrassed by conflict and seek to avoid it. Our great diversity and the tensions over our differences can seem debilitating. Yet God is always in the midst of conflict, prompting bridge-building and transformation because the life of God is shaped towards reconciling. The question is how we might discern and contribute to God’s reconciling work, both inside the Church and in the wider world.
What is Reconciliation Initiatives doing?
Reconciliation Initiatives, in collaboration with Coventry Cathedral, seeks to equip Anglican Christians and their communities to handle disagreement more confidently and skilfully, and to be agents for reconciliation in wider society.
We are doing this through establishing an Anglican Peacemaking Institute on each continent, in partnership with local organisations, beginning in Europe and Africa, and then further afield.
Our vision is to make a strategic contribution to:
- changing the culture of how Anglican churches handle their disagreements;
- how the Church contributes to bridging divisions and strengthening relationships in divided societies.
In doing so we seek to bring hope to the world.
How can you help?
Two thirds of the funding for the Peacemaking Institutes will come from charitable giving. The other third will come from Dioceses sponsoring their participants. So we need your support if we're going to deliver the planned Institutes.
We especially need regular donors who believe in what we are doing. Regular donations give a crucial base of support. So a gift of £10 or £5 a month is much appreciated.
Match funding offer
One generous donor is offering £25,000 a year as match funding to others' donations. So any gift you make will be doubled in value. Help to release this match funding by supporting us now. Thank you!
