Who we are

For over twenty years the aim of D.O.M. has been to empower those living in extreme poverty in two of the poorest states in India.

Projects provide free shelter, food, clean water, education, vocational training and basic health care with a commitment to help individuals, families and entire communities become self-sufficient.

The projects enable people to break out of the cycle of poverty.

To date 8,500 eye operations have been performed restoring sight, this in turn has allowed people to work and look after their families.

The charity, through funds raised in the U.K. and the USA has built over 700 water wells. This has dramatically improved quality of life for many thousands, reducing the spread of water borne illness, disease and dehydration in these remote villages.

Several leprosy projects are sponsored where victims of the disease are treated, re-housed and provided with long-term care. Children are vaccinated for curable diseases and receive full time education to keep them off the street, free from child labour and trafficking.

D.O.M. strongly believes in the power and importance of education to provide positive and sustainable changes to communities. At present well over 2,000 children are educated daily in schools in impoverished regions.

The charity continues to provide specific skills training in I.T candle-making, electrical, mechanical, tailoring and agricultural work for adults. This provides greater opportunity for employment and business enterprise building stronger and more sustainable and self sufficient communities.

Widows, often left helpless and stigmatized in society, are given employment at the orphanage in the kitchens or dormitories giving them greater financial independence and free education and board for themselves and their children.

The lives of thousands of people continue to be positively impacted by the work done however the regions need much more aid. Over 95% of your donations go directly to the poor, unmatched by any charity. DOM relies on donors and sponsors mainly in the UK to fund and support its vital work. None of this change would be possible without you. We Welcome you to our family at DOM.
