The Shelley Centre For Therapeutic Riding
Who we are
Our purpose built, self-funding riding centre was opened in 1989, at Shelley near Hadleigh, in the beautiful Brett Valley eight miles from Ipswich in Suffolk. Although an independent charity, The Shelley Centre is affiliated to The Riding for the Disabled Association. Our aim is to provide riding to benefit the health and wellbeing of adults and children with disabilities. The Centre is run by volunteers including 12 instructors. The Centre is open five days a week during school term times. Throughout the year we help around 135 individual riders. Their ages range from between 4 and 50 plus, with many varying degrees of physical, learning and behavioural difficulties.
