Who we are
Established in 1989, Unity works towards creating fair and inclusive communities where everyone is valued, with meaningful opportunities to fulfil their potential. We currently have staff working across the West of Scotland in our support services - for carers of all ages, and people with learning disabilities. In the spirit of active citizenship, people accessing our services are at the centre of everything we do.
Unity also works to support people affected by social isolation, homelessness and poverty through our social impact projects in Glasgow City. Through our unique Social Enterprise, the Spoon Café for example, an innovative ‘Pay it Forward’ scheme is well established and offers to the public a way to provide free food to those who need it most. Our most recent project is creation and development of the 'Unity Social Kitchen’ for people facing food poverty and social isolation. Whilst tangible skills will be offered through the Social Kitchen that can improve individual prospects, the wider impact and theme is that of connectedness, and the development of meaningful relationships. The project will formally launch in February 2020.
