Who we are

Accumulate ( is The Art school for the Homeless.

Accumulate uses creativity to empower and increase the wellbeing and mental health of young people who are affected by homelessness and works with hostels and housing organisations across London delivering art, photography, creative writing, fashion and craft workshops.

We have had to stop our weekly creative workshops due to CV-19. This awful virus has had an additional negative impact on the Accumulate participants as they are feeling especially vulnerable and lonely at this time, with no family around them and isolated in single hostel rooms.

In order to overturn this, Accumulate is purchasing art materials and sending out weekly Accumulate Art Kits with creative challenges for them to do. These activities keep them motivated, engaged and connected and prevents boredom which can so easily turn into substance abuse, anti social behaviour and spiralling depression. Each Accumulate Art Kit costs £10 and will last each participant a few weeks. Any donation to support the Accumulate Art Kit project would be so appreciated - we have requests from 18 hostels for over 350 Accumulate Art Kits and your support would help to improve these people's lives at this awful time.

"Accumulate Art Kit received. Really blessed because

I need to distract myself from mental health

problems and art is helping me do this"

quote from Amalia, Accumulate participant, March 2020.

An Accumulate creative workshop in action

More about Accumulate:

Accumulate's creative workshops are run in collaboration with major art and cultural institutions The Tate Modern, The Barbican, Somerset House, The Photographers’ Gallery, the BBC and The Guardian. This means that the Accumulate participants get out of the negative hostel environment, visit new places, enjoy London's cultural offer and get to overcome challenges to do with travel and gain independence.

The Accumulate participants often come from difficult, complicated and diverse backgrounds, including abusive relationships, mental health and substance abuse, foster care and prison backgrounds. Through the Accumulate programme they become engaged in something personally rewarding and meaningful, develop their self-esteem and sense of self worth and start to have the ambition to think and plan for a more positive future, whatever that may be.

Accumulate also fundraises for scholarships so that our participants can progress their creative education at university- this is life changing.
