The Beatrice Charity

The Beatrice Charity

Who we are

The Beatrice is a narrow boat on the Caldon Canal in the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands.

The Beatrice out on the Caldon Canal

We take school parties of children with special needs on trips, and in the holidays are used by groups that need our disabled facilities. We are out about 140 times a year and in 2014 carried nearly 1,500 passengers.

No charge is made to school children but other groups (including family and social parties that wish to help with our fund-raising) make a donation of £100 or so. All trips have a qualified, paid, skipper, helped by a volunteer crew.

The Charity costs around £12,000 a year to run, and donations are most welcome to help us to keep the Beatrice afloat.
