BEHT has helped to establish schools in four locations in Gujarat.

In Chaparda, the main centre, there are about 2000 children being educated from the age of 5 to 20 years including a separate school for 50 blind children. There is the main school in Gujarati medium, an English medium school and 3 colleges – Computer Science college, Business Management college and Teachers training college. Out of this 2000 children, 500 are receiving free education supported by BEHT and various other charities.

In Savarkundla, 50 miles east of Chaparda, BEHT has helped to build 2 schools for slum children educating about 600 children. All these children are studying free of charge.

In Junagadh City, 30 miles west of Chaparda, BEHT has helped to build a boarding house for about 500 girls so that they can get educated in Junagadh’s schools and colleges. About 100 or so of these girls are sponsored by donors from London.

In Kutchh, in a small town of Adhoi, BEHT has helped to build a school for 800 children after the Gujarat earthquake in 2001. All these children are receiving education free of charge.

Just recently, BET in India has taken responsibility from the Gujarat Government of renovating and improving the educational standard of 36 village schools near Chaparda.

BEHT is encouraging girls to be educated further as the custom in these rural areas is to educate them till the age of 12 years only.

In total, over 10,000 children have already been educated through our schools and now with the 36 village schools under BET / BEHT, approx. 10,000 children are being educated at the moment.

BEHT helped build a 170 bed hospital in Chaparda in 2012. Most of the treatment and medicine is heavily subsidised and supplied at a very low cost. Since opening three years ago, over 10,000 patients have been treated with various ailments.

Regular health screening, polio and eye camps are held here.
