Chancepixies Animal Welfare
Homepage
In March 2016, Chancepixies launched a legal challenge against North Kesteven District Council and its decision to continue to licence an establishment for 200 breeding bitches.
The legal challenge has taken the form of Judicial Review on the grounds that the decision to licence the establishment did not take into consideration the full requirements of the Animal Welfare Act 2006. In short we are challenging, through the courts using existing legislation, the legal requirements for all dogs, including those in commercial dog breeding establishments (puppy farms), to be afforded the protection of the five freedoms of the Act, and that licencing authorities must take into consideration the full requirements of this act when assessing if whether an establishment should be granted a licence.
Although we are politically active towards the end of irresponsible breeding and ownership, we also rescue, rehabiliate and rehome. We have a non-destruct policy and since September 2004 have found forever homes over 1,000 dogs and reunited over 800.
