Community Counselling (North Yorkshire) Limited

Who we are

Community Counselling (North Yorkshire) Limited was established in 1995 with the aim of relieving the mental suffering and distress of persons in need by reason of illness or emotional distress in North Yorkshire by providing or assisting in the provision of counselling, support and therapeutic interventions.

25 years on we offer free counselling to adults living in Ryedale and Scarborough Borough Districts. This includes brief counselling as well as longer term counselling for adults who have been a victim of sexual abuse or trauma or a victim of crime.  Additionally, we provide counselling/play therapy to young carers and children and young people across North Yorkshire and York who have been the victim of crime.

Many of the people that we help are not in full-time employment, are struggling with long-term illness or disability, or are victims of crime. Many clients come from families, or are in relationships, that are abusive and/or controlling.

Currently, we have a team of over 30 counsellors including volunteers and trainees (supported by four support staff) usually working at a number of different venues across North Yorkshire and York.

However we would like to offer more services and see more clients and reduce our waiting lists!  Your donation could help us achieve this. It costs Community Counselling over £50 to deliver one session of counselling but please donate what you can and it will be much appreciated.

"I cannot express how much the counselling helped me.  It has given me the future that I never thought I would have." - a former client
