Age Concern Newbury And District Fair Close Centre
Who we are
Fun, Food and Friendship
The Fair Close Centre is run by Age Concern Newbury & District, an independent charity and provides a place for older people who live on their own or couples who do not have family in the area to meet for a coffee or lunch, take part in activities, go on organised trips and have opportunities to spend time with friends and to meet new people.
From singing and card games to crafts, flower arranging and bingo, there’s something for everyone. Our kitchen provides a freshly cooked two-course meal every weekday and Sunday lunchtime and delivers hot meals to those who are unable to come to the Centre. Additional services include minibus transport to and from the Centre, wellbeing and welfare support, a hairdressing salon and foot health service at affordable rates.
The Fair Close Centre is staffed by a team of full and part-time staff together with more than 70 volunteers who fulfill a variety of roles from delivering meals on wheels to serving hot drinks in the cafe and staffing the book shop.
The Fair Close Centre offers fun, food and friendship to alleviate loneliness and ensure that our members feel involved and connected in a caring community.
As a charity, we are dependent on grants and donations and are incredibly grateful for support from our community and beyond. Please donate if you can - you will making a difference to the lives of older people in our area. Thankyou.
