Who we are
FareShare Cymru works to fight food poverty by tackling food waste. We take surplus edible food from the food and drink industry and redistribute this to organisations that feed people in need.
We rescue good food that has just been for example over ordered or delivered with the wrong colour lablels and would otherwise be wasted. FareShare Cymru redistributes the food to charities supporting those in food poverty.
Volunteers are key members of our team, very often the same disadvantaged people who receive food. They get training and experience doing something worthwhile and maybe getting them into paid employment.
Each year we rescue around 500 tonnes of food, enough to contribute to 1 million meals.
Every £1 donated means that good food is saved from waste and instead provides £4 meals. £10 a month = 500 meals a year!
