Food for Thought

Please help us build better lives ...

We are fund-raising to build a hostel for blind and partially-sighted children so that they can attend Katente West Primary School, Mubende District, Uganda. This has been a long and complicated effort, but now we are within sight of completing the building  – and we hope that children can start using it in September this year!

But there is still a lot of work to be done – and paid for. This includes plastering the inside walls, buying windows and doors, installing electricity wiring, painting walls and building a block of latrines for the VI pupils. Estimated cost is £3,500 for the building and £3000 for the latrines.

Now, one of our good friends, has offered to match, £ for £, all new donations made before the end of July, up to a maximum of £1000, through the Douglas Martin Trust!

Please will you consider making a donation

Our Food for Thought programme links schools in Devon and Cornwall with very rural schools in Uganda, with a focus on sustainable organic food growing. One aim is to give the pupils a meal every day.

In rural areas, blind and visually impaired children find it impossible to walk to and from school each day - so they do not attend, and this further reduces their chances of a living a good life even more.
