Half Moon Young People's Theatre Limited
Who we are
Half Moon - we include, we inform, we inspire
Half Moon is based in Limehouse, East London. We produce and present professional theatre for young audiences at our Limehouse venue, as well as on tour to other venues nationally. We also have an extensive Creative Learning programme, giving children and young people from birth to 18 (or 25 for disabled young people) an opportunity to participate in a variety of drama and theatre activities in schools, community settings and Half Moon. Our expertise is in supporting young people and artists throughout their creative development, providing a gateway to engagement and offering pathways for progression. Each year our work reaches around 50,000 people.
As a registered charity, Half Moon’s small, dedicated team works hard to raise around two thirds of our turnover through donations and grants – everything raised is used to support our various activities and keep our prices affordable. Now more than ever, we need your help.
Where does your donation go?
Half Moon is here for everyone in our community and to be truly inclusive we subsidise our tickets and fees to ensure we are affordable to all. Your donations help us do this. For example:
· Our theatre tickets are all £7 but the true cost of coming here to see a show is more like £10. Some people include a small donation each time they book tickets, which helps us cover some of the additional costs.
· Our Youth Theatre members pay either £6 or £3 per session – around 40% of members pay the concessionary rate. We provide Access Workers for those young people who require additional support to attend, which adds around £25,000 to our costs each year. This makes the true cost of sessions around £15. We get some support from charities towards the difference but still need to raise more each year to cover the difference.
