Open Door, Young People's Consultation Service
Who we are
Open Door offers free confidential counselling and psychotherapy to young people aged 12-24 living in Haringey. Our services are offered in welcoming, accessible, non-stigmatising premises in Crouch End and Tottenham.
We aim to:
- improve the well-being and mental health outcomes of young people aged 12-24 through delivering effective, evidence-based psychological therapies
- reduce risk of suicide and self harm and alleviate the effects of abuse, trauma and mental ill health
- enhance educational and employment opportunities
- enable young people to feel more in control of their lives and to make positive choices
Open Door works with young people experiencing difficulties including depression, self-harm, eating disorders, drug and alcohol misuse. Many have endured abuse, trauma, violence and family breakdown. Some are facing early pregnancy and parenthood whilst others are striving to manage their adolescent development with the additional challenges of disability. They are often marginalised and reluctant to access statutory services. Last year we worked with over 600 young people, offering over 6,000 appointments.
Open Door also delivers services to parents and carers of young people aged 12-21.
