Wicked Weather Watch
Who we are
Who we are:
Wicked Weather Watch inspires children and their teachers to engage with climate change, and helps them to understand how – together and individually – we can more sustainably use resources to conserve our fragile planet.
We focus on the Arctic to bring climate to change to life, drawing on the personal experience of explorers and others who have seen first hand how climate change is affecting the people and wildlife who live in the region, and to demonstrate how climate change in the Arctic impacts us all.
Our vision is for children to have the passion and skills they need to be responsible citizens in the world beyond school; to take small steps that have a positive impact on our local and global environment.
What we do:
We inspire! Children hear directly from those who have witnessed climate change first hand. Our fantastic volunteers, who have either travelled to the Arctic or are experts in climate change, visit schools and events telling children about their adventures and experiences, and what it means to them to protect the Arctic and conserve our world.
We engage. Arctic themed events for individual schools, groups of schools or the public, let children get interactive with climate change through dance, drama, music, and even cookery…! Each event is attended by an Arctic explorer, bringing their personal stories and a lot of adventure!
We connect. We link children in the UK to children in the Arctic or to people who have been there. We connect schools that share a passion for creative learning and positive local and global impact. And we join individuals and schools to millions of others who share the desire to help our fragile world through our partnerships such as The Climate Coalition.
We support learning. In partnership with teachers and education experts, we develop education materials that help them to teach about climate change, the environment and sustainable living through their day to day work in a way that is fun and creative while meeting curriculum requirements. We also offer CPD workshops for teachers and KS2-3 Transition days.
