My story

[p]My name is John Jenkins and I will be running 31 marathons in 31 days, beginning in September 2019, to raise funds for Ice Cool Kids (ICK). The money raised will be go towards helping ICK being able to take children and young people, with additional needs and disabilities therapeutic skiing in Easter of 2020, using adaptive equipment, to La Plagne in France. The cost of this trip is approximately £100,000.[/p][p]The marathons will not be part of any organised races but will be run locally, predominantly around the Gnoll Country Park and my home town of Neath. The runs will be measured to the full 26.2 mile distance each day, with details uploaded to the challenge website and associated social media pages.[/p][p]This is mainly for logistical reasons, as I will still be working, whilst also attempting to build a property, designed around my daughter, Leah, who has Profound and Complex Learning Difficulties.[/p][p]Also, it affords the opportunity to members of ICK, along with anybody else who would like to participate alongside me, to join in for whatever distance they are able to manage. Thus, keeping the event fully inclusive.[/p][p]It will be by far the biggest challenge I have ever undertaken and I'm under no illusions as to the pain and discomfort that I will undergo during these 31 days. I am no elite athlete, or even that good a runner. I'm just an ordinary bloke who believes that anything is possible. I will take my inspiration from the amazing children and young people in ICK and their families, who endure countless challenges, operations, hospital and specialist visits and suffer numerous setbacks, not only for 31 days, but for every day of their lives. Their sheer enjoyment of our ski sessions, watching them interact and develop, coupled with the family spirit that ICK exudes will ensure that NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES, I will complete this challenge.[/p][p][br][/p]
