My story

[p]Just wanted to say thank you for the incredible donations and kind messages of support and encouragement. It gave me a real boost knowing there was so many well-wishers and dot-watchers tracking and following online! I had a fantastic support team of friends and family and am pleased to say I got there eventually. The run was a struggle, particularly with the heat early on, but the swim went far better than I could have hoped for and though the bike ride was a grind we got to Paris in one piece and I am officially Enduroman #38![/p][p]An enormous thank you again for all the generous donations and support - we’ve more than tripled the original fundraising target which is incredible![/p][p]****************************************************************************************[/p][p]In July 2019, I’ll be looking to complete the notorious Arch 2 Arc triathlon, looking to go from London to Paris…the hard way. I’ll be starting at Marble Arch in central London, and will run 89 miles down to Dover on the south-east coast before swimming the English Channel to France and finally cycling 181 miles from Calais to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. [/p][p][br][/p][p]More individuals have summited Everest than successfully completed a solo swim across the Channel, and currently only 35 individuals have successfully completed the triathlon event, in the nearly 20 years it has been running. This will be the longest I’ve ever run, the longest I’ve ever swam, and the longest I’ve cycled, and that’s without putting them all back to back. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Why all the effort? Aside from (maybe foolishly) trying to prove that you don’t need to be anyone special to try something big, I’m looking to raise money for two charities close to my family's heart – Breast Cancer Now and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. Breast cancer has afflicted our family, and as a born and bred Geordie (don’t let my accent fool you), I’ve seen first-hand the legacy of Sir Bobby Robson in the North East and the work his Foundation does in researching, treating and caring for cancer sufferers in the North East of England. [/p][p][br][/p][p]So if you’re feeling generous, any sponsorship would be very gratefully received. Both charities do fantastic work in supporting those who suffer from cancer. And if you enjoy the idea of me drifting out to the North Sea, or slowly suffering through the South Downs to Dover, you’ll be able to follow my (lack of) progress via the tracker here.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Breast Cancer Now[/p][p]Sir Bobby Robson Foundation[/p]

Well done Calum. I read about your efforts on nufc.com, I'm currently living just outside Paris, and they're fantastic causes, so more than happy to make a donation.

Incredible effort Calum, truly superhuman. You should change your name to Number 38 by deed poll. I remain in awe that this is even possible.
