Team story

[p]In the summer of 2020 we will be competing in the Mongol Rally. This is a 10,000+ mile road trip driving through cities, deserts, mountain ranges, 20 countries and 2 continents over what can be argued to be some of the harshest terrains in the world. This makes it one of the greatest motoring adventures on the planet, however it is also one of the most dangerous. As three friends fresh out of school we wanted to step out of our comfort zone and challenge ourselves. With this in mind the idea of participating in the 2020 Mongol rally took shape. There are limited rules and regulations with the exception of the type of car you drive. The car’s engine has to be below 1.2L (ideally below 1L) and for as little price as possible. In plain English your car has to be an absolute rust bucket making the journey that one bit harder by ensuring breakdowns and catastrophes along the way are a certainty. As the Adventurists put it 'a **** car your gran would be embarrassed by'. There is no set route or back up leaving it up to us three to survive the journey.[/p][p]Team Rallygators is comprised of Jamie Moir (19), Lochie Shillington (19), Freddie Stone (19) and Garry (2000 Citroën Saxo). Together we are hoping to cross the Finish Line in Ulan Ude in one piece. We are extremely passionate about our charities - Young minds and Cool Earth (a charity selected by the organisers) - and our choices strongly reflect personal passions, experiences and beliefs. For more information on the individual charities please feel free to click the links below. Although the rally rules explicitly stipulate that each team must raise a minimum of £1,000.00 for charity, in competitive team fashion, we hope to smash such a threshold for a more hearty sum of £6,000.00 of which £500 will be donated to the organisers charity Cool Earth. [/p][p]We really appreciate any support you may be able to give in helping us reach our target of £6,000 which will support these two great causes. 100% of your donations will go straight to the charities.[/p]
