My story

[p]OK, so in April it was going to be the Fellsman, a 61 mile challenge/race across some of the wildest parts of the Yorkshire Dales. But like every other group event, it was cancelled due to COVID-19. So I've swapped it for the Joss Naylor Challenge. Joss is now in his eighties, but was once the UK's leading fell-runner and is probably still the most famous. At the age of 50 ran nearly 50 miles and over 30 peaks from one corner of the Lake District (Pooley Bridge) to his home in the other corner (Greendale Bridge in Wasdale) in under 12 hours. It only crosses two roads from start to finish - you can watch a 3 minute flythrough with labelled peaks here. The challenge varies depending on age, so for over 55s like me, we get 15 hours to try to complete it, although I'm aiming for 14 hours. So on 26th September, with a great support crew, that's the challenge I'm taking on![/p][p]I want to raise money for Leeds Space Network; a wonderful project which works with 11-19 year olds from some of the toughest parts of Leeds. Their motto is "Exploring Faith, Nurturing Young People, Transforming Communities", and they achieve this through a network of youth groups across the city. Most of the leaders are volunteers who are committed to working with these amazing young people, and seeing them achieve their true potential. There are many challenges, but also many joys. [/p][p]Leeds Space Network is part of LCCT, a charity which supports a number of different projects. They will make sure that the money goes to supporting the few paid staff and volunteers who are in it for the long haul - some have been involved for nearly 20 years! They need our support and encouragement.[/p][p]So please consider supporting this project which brings so much life and hope. You'll also be helping me "run the challenge". [/p][p][br][/p]
